About the Presenter:  


Martin Ferguson

Director of Policy & Research,

Society for innovation, technology and modernisation, UK


Martin leads Socitm’s policy and research programme. Together with Mike Manson, he was instrumental in establishing the international collaboration between ALGIM and Socitm that led to the formation of LOLA - the Linked Organisation of Local Authority ICT professional associations. His interests include ethical use of emerging technologies and data, enabling healthy and well communities, public service design and transformation, with a particular focus on building resilient places post COVID-19. A graduate of the Universities of Wales, Waterloo (Canada) and Birmingham (UK), his local government career spans planning, housing, leisure and recreation, IT and information services. He has served as an associate lecturer on MBA programmes at the University of Birmingham (INLOGOV), the Open University Business School and Henley Business School and as an advisor to the British Council’s e-Governance Programme. Currently, he sits on advisory boards for the Universities of Hertfordshire and Kingston.
