COVID has caused chaos and threatens us with a global recession that may top the Great Depression for its impact on global trade and livelihoods.  But it has also opened new opportunities, especially for regional councils who can help local communities take advantage of the lower living costs associated with being outside the main centres.  The next 18 months to two years represents an opportunity for a re-writing of the economic rule book and the move away from large scale deployments in the city centres towards a remote-first model that encourages staff to disperse and work away from the office.
