Testimonials for the ALGIM Information Management Toolkit
South Taranaki District Council
During the latter part of 2003 South Taranaki District Council undertook an Information Systems Strategic Plan (ISSP). Lack of available funding constrained the project to being resourced and obtaining advice totally in-house. Shortly after the project started we became aware of the ALGIM Information Management Toolkit. Attendance at the Toolkit seminar indicated that the Toolkit itself, whilst still in early stages of development, could be of value in providing a clear process for our ISSP.
Having reviewed the Information Management Strategy module we found that it contained most of what we were trying to cover in our ISSP. The title name may be different but the scope was the same. Whilst the module does not contain any startlingly new information or ways to produce an IS/IM Strategy is does bring everything together in one place in a clear and logical manner. In particular we found that the example report provided us with a good layout which even identified similar drivers and projects to our own.
We have recently received other modules including one on Disaster Recovery Planning. Someone is clearly watching over me and knows what my next project is. My thanks to the Toolkit Steering Group and particularly the Working Parties without whose contribution these modules would not have been produced. For a small Council with very limited resources we find the ALGIM Information Management Toolkit very valuable. We would recommend it to any Local Authority as an important asset to have on the shelf of the CIO, IT, IS or IM Manager.
