2008 Web Symposium
The third annual premier event for web and online communications teams in local government was held on 5 & 6 May 2008 at the Rutherford Hotel in Nelson. There was an action-packed programme of presentations and workshops covering a wide selection of topics including self-service usuability, Web 2.0, writing accessible web content, UK Council online trends, open source and CMS, intranet best practice and loads more. There were some fantastic Council case studies and external presentations from Provoke Solutions, Optimal Usability, NZ Herald, Department of Conservation and Rachel McAlpine. We also announced the winners of the 2008 ALGIM Web Awards.

2008 ALGIM Council Website Evaluation - rankings and reports
Early in 2008, ALGIM commissioned a major survey and evaluation of Council websites throughout New Zealand to assess sites from both a technical and content perspective. The results of the evaluation and survey were announced at the Web Symposium.
