The New Privacy Era Webinar

The new privacy era: Privacy law reform, GDPR and what this might mean for local government

Privacy law is changing. In May 2018, the EU General Data Protection Regulation commenced, which significantly lifted the privacy bar. Here in NZ, a new Privacy Bill is working its way through the legislative process, which will have an impact on all agencies, including local government.

In this ALGIM webinar, Simply Privacy Director Daimhin Warner will explain this new privacy era, summarise the changes that are coming and focus on a few key new obligations.

  • Key privacy concepts informing global law reform
  • Privacy Bill in brief
  • Mandatory data breach notification
  • New powers for the Privacy Commissioner
  • Accountability for data transfers
  • New criminal offences
  • A note on the EU General Data Protection Regulation
