ALGIM is committed to foster information sharing for its members and their employers. One of ALGIM's strategies is to run seminars on relevant current and future topics.

2008 ALGIM Customer Service Symposium - 13th, 14th & 15th August

This year is the 8th year the Annual Customer Service Conference has been run. The host city for 2008 is Dunedin City who has teamed up with ALGIM to provide an amazing event. ALGIM brings the administration and conference organising skills of a Local Government body and utilizing its contacts throughout New Zealand and around the wolrd have been able to enhance the programme.

The theme for theis year's event is "Creating the Ultimate Customer Service Experience". The exciting programme will explore how other Local Government and beyond have created the ultimate experience for thier customers by looking at case studies from New Zealand and from overseas. Australia's number one Council for Customer Service will present on thier award winning formula. In addition we are going live to the City of Windsor in Canada to hear how they deliver customer service in a very customer oriented nation.

2008 ALGIM Records Management Symposium - 3rd & 4th July

We learn best from experience ... At ALGIM's inaugural Records Management Symposium you can have the opportunity to do just that. For two days information management professionals from big and small councils will be sharing their experiences in records and archives management. Featuring a number of case studies - informing you of what actually happened - not the theory of what should happen. Case studies will cover a variety of challenges facing records and archives in local government, including the all important EDRMS decisions. As well as learning from others, you will also have plenty of opportunities to share your experiences through talking with colleagues in an informal setting.

2008 ALGIM Web Symposium - 5th & 6th May

The third annual premier event for web and online communications teams in local government was held in May 2008. There was an action-packed programme of presentations and workshops covering a wide selection of topics including self-service usuability, Web 2.0, writing accessible web content, UK Council online trends, open source and CMS, intranet best practice and loads more. There were some fantastic Council case studies and external presentations from Provoke Solutions, Optimal Usability, NZ Herald, Department of Conservation and Rachel McAlpine. We also announced the winners of the 2008 ALGIM Web Awards.
