Products / Services
One of ALGIM’s key roles is to develop products and services that provide direct, immediate and future benefits for its members. The New Zealand spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation is one of our strengths in the international world of Information Technology and Management. ALGIM looks for opportunities to place initiatives in the global arena – wherever this will benefit our members.
Additionally ALGIM is involved in many projects that will impact its members – often requiring government and industry liaison.
Information Management Toolkit
ALGIM has launched the first ever New Zealand Local Government Information Management Tool-Kit as an easy to follow guide in developing an Information Management strategy.
The Tool-Kit has been developed by ALGIM (with assistance from SWIM) for local authorities and is available at an affordable price. The Tool-Kit has been reviewed and acclaimed by a project team of ALGIM Information Managers throughout the country.
An Introductory Document, which provides useful information for Councils who are considering purchase of the ALGIM IM Toolkit, is also available. It contains an overview of the ALGIM IM Toolkit - its purpose, how it was developed, and the modules it contains. In addition, the document includes Tables of Contents from each of the modules, showing the depth and extent of the work undertaken.

Infobase
Infobase is an online survey designed to allow the collection and reporting of various categories of information from the 86 member councils around New Zealand.
The purpose of this survey is to provide an ongoing information technology survey to enable authorised users to query the collected data to gain insight into the trends and patterns within the scope of the survey.
Telecommunications Audit Service
ALGIM offers members a telecommunications cost review service in partnership with TeleConsultants.
The service will benchmark your telecommunications services pricing against market rates for similar sized organisations in both local government and other market verticals. The benchmark will be delivered in the form of a "report card" with categories and comment for each telco service.
Potential benefits of the report card to IS Managers include:
- Better informed dialogue with telco suppliers
- Reduced requirement to go to tender for telecommunications
- Improved negotiating position with your current supplier
The service is provided and invoiced by ALGIM. Each report will cost $790 + GST
