2011 Annual ALGIM Conference, 20 - 23 November 2011
Integrate, Collaborate, Transform… Engage!
Bayview Wairakei Resort, Taupo, New Zealand
One of the key focuses for the 2011 Annual ALGIM Conference is the use of Cloud Computing within Local Government. The Conference programme features three experts from different organisations within the industry to speak to delegates on this revolution in technology. Each of the speakers will focus on different aspects of the Cloud Computing technology.
The concept of Cloud Computing runs parallel with Local Government organisations constantly looking for legally binding and secure ways to cut costs, streamline and speed up business processes, stop the printing, scanning, binding and other handling of paper while still providing an efficient service to rate payers.
Mike Eyal, Director for TME Consulting LTD, will present on moving Local Government forward with his session on “Signing Documents in the Cloud”. This presentation will review current electronic business processes within Local Government, examine the concept of digital signatures, explore the challenges of the Cloud environment. He will also showcase solutions and their benefits for Council’s staff, suppliers and residents.
New Zealand Manager of VMware, Tim Dacombe-Bird, will provide a session on “The Future of IT | What’s the Next Step?” ALGIM and VMware have had a long and beneficial relationship in transforming physical infrastructure to virtual infrastructure, which includes Cloud Computing. Tim’s presentation will help “demystify Cloud” and explain what Cloud computing is, why Cloud is important to IT, the benefits and what the next steps are on the journey to IT transformation.
Finally Brett Hooker, R & D Director of TechnologyOne C2, will discuss what the drivers of the Cloud Computing trend are and how they are relevant to the Local Government space. He will also answer common questions such as:
- What are the key drivers for Cloud Computing and some of the common concerns?
- What is the relevance of Cloud Computing for Local Government?
- What are future benefits of transferring to the Cloud?
